How to add a font to PixelLab

Last checked 2026-10-27

Short answer: Download the font, extract the ZIP, then in PixelLab select your text, open the Font tab, go to My fonts and import the .ttf file from your Downloads folder.

1. Download and extract the font

Pick a font in the generator and press Font. It downloads as a ZIP with the .ttf file and its license. Open the ZIP in your phone's Files app and tap Extract, so the .ttf sits in your Downloads folder.

2. Import it in PixelLab

  1. Open your project and add or select a text layer.
  2. Open the Font tab in the text options.
  3. Go to My fonts and tap the import button (a plus or folder icon).
  4. Find the .ttf in Downloads and select it. The font appears in My fonts, ready for every project.

The exact icons move a little between PixelLab versions, but the font import always lives in the Font tab.

3. Match the look from the generator

The generator's outline is PixelLab's Stroke, and its shadow is Shadow. Use the same colours, and keep the stroke moderate on Hindi and Bangla, where thick strokes fill in small letter gaps.

The shortcut: use a PNG instead of the font

If PixelLab won't import the font, or Hindi, Bangla, Tamil or Urdu letters break apart in it, skip the font entirely. Type your text in the generator, pick a font and style, and press PNG. You get your text with its outline and shadow on a transparent background, already shaped correctly, which you can place on your thumbnail like any image.

Frequently asked questions

Does PixelLab support Hindi and Bangla fonts?
Usually yes, because it uses Android's own text shaping. If conjuncts still break on your phone, download the text as a PNG from the generator and add it as an image instead.
Can I use OTF fonts in PixelLab?
PixelLab imports both .ttf and .otf files. Every font on this site is a .ttf.
